Single and Multiobjective Shutdown Optimization of a Multistage Continuous Crystallizer.

This study presents the first model-based optimal shutdown procedure of a multistage continuous crystallization process which aims at the maximization of on-spec production and minimization of the shutdown time. The cooling antisolvent crystallization of Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) in a three-stage continuous crystallizer was used as a case study. To address the optimal shutdown problem, several single optimization scenarios were considered to assess the impact of the degrees of freedom, discretization schemes, and optimization settings such as the constraints. The proposed optimal shutdown procedures showed that significant amounts of on-spec crystals can be produced both at fixed and variable shutdown times. Most importantly, the optimal shutdown procedures can match the steady-state productivity, based on the shutdown to steady-state productivity ratio (STSPR) which can easily reach 100%. Moreover, the residual shutdown material, considered as waste, can be dramatically reduced by >80% compared to the current standard shutdown procedures. Given the conflicting nature of the maximization of on-spec production and minimization of the shutdown time, multiobjective optimization of the shutdown operation was also addressed to identify the set of Pareto optimal solutions. Finally, a multicriteria decision-aiding method, based on multiattribute utility theory, was proposed to rank the Pareto optimal solutions to support the decision-making and help identify a suitable and feasible single optimal shutdown solution.

This paper introduces the comprehensive value function, a novel framework designed to address multi-dimensional challenges in sustainability assessment within decision-making processes. Multi-criteria decision-making methods based on multi-attribute utility theory excel at integrating environmental, social, and economic factors but typically focus on positive and neutral impacts. This limitation often results in the oversight of critical negative consequences, thus restricting their effectiveness in all-encompassing sustainability evaluations. The proposed framework addresses this gap by quantifying the degree of satisfaction across a full spectrum of sustainability impacts and integrating negative outcomes essential for holistic assessments. The necessity of this model is highlighted by the shortcomings of current practices, where adverse impacts are frequently overlooked and existing frameworks fail to foresee the negative repercussions of various alternatives. By facilitating the creation of positive, negative, or piecewise functions, the CVF provides a comprehensive reflection of impacts, essential for well-informed sustainability decisions. Integrating this function into established decision-making models leads to a more balanced approach adept at navigating the intricate trade-offs inherent in sustainable development. Organised systematically, the paper presents the comprehensive value function, its application across various domains, and a concluding section synthesising the findings.

The selection of the best employee is the company's appreciation for the performance of its employees. This can motivate employees to be more motivated at work. To get the names of the best employees, a system is needed that performs the expected selection process and can produce objective and transparent information. In finding the best employees, the company does this by appointing without a reliable enough assessment. Therefore, a decision support system is needed in evaluating employee performance. This research uses the multi-attribute utility theory method. The data processed for this evaluation are 10 samples from CV Aurelia Weida Prima Medan. The evaluation is based on several criteria and weights given. There are 6 data criteria to assess employee performance, namely service (30% weight), integrity (20% weight), commitment (15% weight), discipline (20% weight), cooperation (13% weight), and employee performance (12% weight). From the calculation results, the employee who has the highest score is obtained. Therefore, the maximum value is obtained at A9 = 15.746, and the minimum value is obtained at A1 = 1.410. Giving awards is done to increase the morale and motivation of employees. The problem faced by PT Nikomas Gemilang regarding awarding is that it still uses the conventional method, namely in the form of a lottery, so it is considered ineffective and on target by employees who have high work motivation. Decision Support System (SPK) is a system that is used for problem-solving in decision-making, especially awarding at PT Nikomas Gemilang. Making decisions using this system will assist management in determining which employees are eligible to receive awards based on predetermined criteria and to avoid intervention. The method used is Multi-Attribute Utility Theory (MAUT) which solves a problem based on calculations with calculation reference criteria namely attendance, performance, ethics, and discipline. Implementation of this system is expected to facilitate the process of awarding and assist management in making the right decisions and is expected to be able to provide motivation and increase work competition in the corporate environment. The Decision Support System was built using the PHP programming language, Laravel framework, MySQL database, using the Unified Modeling Language (UML) design model, and the Waterfall methodology. The results of this study are expected to increase efficiency and accuracy in awarding and provide a form of transparency in awarding employees at PT Nikomas Gemilang to create justice for all company employees

Analysis Of The Effectiveness Of Using Learning Media During The Covid-19 Period With The Multi-Attribute Utility Theory

Learning activities during the Covid-19 pandemic were carried out online with the aim of taking advantage of technological advances using online learning media. All high schools have implemented online learning, one of which is SMAN 1 Bukit Batu. This aims to ensure that the learning process is carried out remotely without having to meet in person. Online learning has advantages and disadvantages that can affect the achievement of learning objectives, especially in theoretical and practical PKOK subjects. So it is necessary to assess learning theory and practice of PJOK to determine the effectiveness of both. Research the use of 6 criteria and compare theoretical and practical PJOK learning models to determine the best model. The method used is Multi-Attribute Utility Theory (MAUT) with a quantitative approach where data collection is carried out through surveys. There were 193 respondents, namely all 12th grade students of SMAN 1 Bukit Batu as the population in this study. The results of calculations using the MAUT method on the effectiveness of using online learning media during the Covid-19 pandemic resulted in the choice of the Theory subject assessment (0) as the lowest assessment, while the Practice subject (0.32) was the highest assessment. This assessment states that online learning can be said to be effective for practical subjects, while theoretical subjects are more effective if done offline

Integrating the stochastic multiproject scheduling and material ordering problems for offshore projects: multiagent optimization methodology

Purpose The purpose of this study is to develop an integrated model for the stochastic multiproject scheduling and material ordering problems, where some of the prominent features of offshore projects and their environmental-degrading effects have been embraced as well. The durations of activities are uncertain in this model. The developed formulation is tri-objective that seeks to minimize the expected time, total cost and CO2 emission of all projects.Design/methodology/approach A new version of the multiobjective multiagent optimization (MOMAO) algorithm has been proposed to solve the amalgamated model. To empower the MOMAO, various procedures of this algorithm have been modified based on the multiattribute utility theory (MAUT) technique. Along with the MOMAO, this study has employed four other meta-heuristic methodologies to solve the model as well.Findings The outputs of the MOMAO have been put to test against four other optimizers in terms of convergence, diversity, uniformity and computation times. The results of the Mean Ideal Distance (MID) metric have revealed that the MOMAO has strongly prevailed its rival optimizers. In terms of diversity of the acquired solutions, the MOMAO has ranked the first among all employed optimizers since this algorithm has offered the best solutions in 56.66 and 63.33% of the test problems regarding the diversification metric and hyper-volume metrics. Regarding the uniformity of results, which is measured through the spacing metric (SP), the MOMAO has presented the best SP values in more than 96% of the test problems. The MOMAO has needed more computation times in comparison to its rivals.Practical implications A real case study comprising two concurrent offshore projects has been offered. The proposed formulation and the MOMAO have been implemented for this case study, and their effectiveness has been appraised.Originality/value Very few studies have focused on presenting an integrated formulation for the stochastic multiproject scheduling and material ordering problems. The model embraces some of the characteristics of the offshore projects which have not been adequately studied in the literature. Limited capacities of the offshore platforms and cargo vessels have been embedded in the proposed model. The offshore platforms have spatial limitations in storing the required materials. The vessels are also capacitated and they also have limited shipment capacities. Some of the required materials need to be transported from the base to the offshore platform via a fleet of cargo vessels. The workforces and equipment can become idle on the offshore platform due to material shortage. Various offshore-related costs have been integrated as a minimization objective function in the model. The cargo vessels release CO2 detrimental emissions to the environment which are sought to be minimized in the developed formulation. To the best of the authors' knowledge, the MOMAO has not been sufficiently employed as a solution methodology for the stochastic multiproject scheduling and material ordering problems.

Amil Zakat Infaq and Shadaqah Muhammadiyah Institution (LazisMu) Ayah is one of the national amil zakat institutions located in Ayah District, Kebumen Regency. Every month, LazisMu Ayah Service Office provides assistance to people in need in the form of house renovation programs, scholarships for high school or college level education, and business capital. The problem that is often encountered in determining potential aid recipients is that the large number of requests for aid is disproportionate to the number of officers processing the screening data. Apart from that, the selection process for aid recipients still uses manual methods, so it often causes problems such as the selection process for selecting aid candidates taking up to a week and miscalculations occurring, resulting in inaccurate results in the selection of potential aid recipients. Therefore, the method used as a solution model in providing decisions on the system for selecting potential aid recipients at LazisMu Ayah is a decision support system using the multi-attribute utility theory (MAUT) method. This method was chosen because it is able to select the best alternative from a number of alternatives, in this case, the intended alternative is people who are entitled to receive assistance based on 10 criteria. The results of the black box testing show that the system created is in accordance with the design and can be used as a tool. making decisions on determining aid recipients, so that LazisMu Ayah services can be improved because the selection process becomes faster, more accurate, and on target.

Customer loan eligibility recommendations are an important step in the risk and financial assessment process. To ensure business continuity and customer satisfaction, it is important for financial institutions to consider several key factors. Problems in determining lending include various aspects that include credit risk that is difficult to assess appropriately, insufficient information about potential borrowers, potential fraud that can harm lenders. Regardless, financial institutions must ensure sound risk management and comply with applicable regulations and compliance standards to minimize potential losses and maintain fairness in decision-making related to lending. Cooperatives act as institutions that provide access to loans with more flexible terms than conventional financial institutions. The loan application process involves evaluating the customer's eligibility, which includes an analysis of financial condition, credit history, and repayment capacity. The contribution of this study provides a recommendation for savings and loan cooperatives in lending to customers using a decision support system model. The purpose of this study is to evaluate and compare customer loan feasibility using a combination of Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) methods, namely Multi-Attribute Utility Theory (MAUT) and Pivot Pairwise Relative Criteria Importance Assessment (PIPRECIA). This study aims to determine the ability of both methods to provide a comprehensive understanding of loan feasibility by considering a number of relevant criteria. The results of the customer loan eligibility rating recommend rank 1 with a final value of 0.5127 obtained by Customer K, rank 2 with a final value of 0.432 obtained by Customer I, and rank 3 with a final value of 0.3559 obtained by Customer F.

A comparative study of different battery geometries used in electric vehicles

This paper contributes with a review of current and future electric vehicle battery geometries, as there are few comparisons regarding performance criteria in the literature. With these considerations, this paper seeks to fill this gap by comparing commercial batteries with different geometries. First, the specifications of each battery (found on manufacturers' websites or in specialized media) are presented. Then, the battery evaluation criteria are defined considering two distinct applications: economy and performance cars, using the Multi-Attribute Utility Theory (MAUT) method. From that analysis, the blade battery presented the best overall performance with a good rating for both applications. The cylindrical geometry followed with a rating suited better for performance vehicles, and the pouch geometry followed showing promise for use in economy-driven vehicles mostly. Lastly, a case study is carried out by evaluating the application of each of the batteries in a commercial vehicle. It was found that when compared to new technologies, the potential for improvement on any of the studied criteria is enormous. In particular, the Licerion pouch battery (Sion) showed the best performance regarding range and capacity-to-weight ratio, while the 4680 cylindrical battery (Panasonic) and blade battery (BYD) were superior in capacity-to-volume and capacity-to-cost ratios, respectively.

Road infrastructure is a vital component in fostering economic growth and human mobility. Well-maintained and safe roads enhance transportation effectiveness and efficiency. However, in reality, several road segments fall short of stringent standards, both in terms of suitability and safety. The road sections A.H. Nasution (Medan) and Ngumban Surbakti (Medan) have never undergone prior fitness assessments. Thus, this study aims to establish a ranking to determine their fitness levels. This research assesses the suitability of A.H. Nasution (Medan) and Ngumban Surbakti (Medan) roads using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and the Multi-Attribute Utility Theory (MAUT) methods. The collected data is processed and analyzed using both AHP and MAUT methods to determine the relative weights of factors influencing road suitability. The AHP method, when applied to respondent data, revealed the highest weights for road geometric technical aspects, scoring 3,36 for A.H. Nasution and 3.04 for Ngumban Surbakti. Conversely, the lowest weights were assigned to road equipment technical aspects, with 0,592 for A.H. Nasution, and road section utilization, with 0,3 for Ngumban Surbakti. When employing the MAUT method, the highest weights were attributed to complementary road structure, scoring 1,265 for A.H. Nasution and 1,140 for Ngumban Surbakti, whereas the lowest weights pertained to road section utilization, with 0,04 for A.H. Nasution and 0,413 for Ngumban Surbakti. In future research, it is advisable to conduct a comparative study between AHP and MAUT in scenarios with a higher number of criteria or increased complexity. This may also explore the potential development of new methods that integrate the strengths of both approaches to address these issues.

Road infrastructure is an important aspect in supporting economic growth and human mobility. Good and safe road conditions will increase the effectiveness and efficiency of transportation. However, in reality, some road sections still do not meet fairly strict standards, both in terms of feasibility and safety. The roads of A.H. Nasution (Medan) and Ngumban Surbakti (Medan) have never undergone a feasibility test before. Therefore, in this study a ranking will be formed to determine the level of feasibility of the function of both. This study was conducted to evaluate the feasibility of A.H. Nasution (Medan) and Ngumban Surbakti (Medan) roads using the AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) method and the MAUT (Multi-Attribute Utility Theory) method. The data that has been collected will be processed and analyzed using the AHP and MAUT methods. The AHP method and the MAUT method are used to determine the relative weight of each of the factors affecting roadworthiness. Assessment of respondent data using the AHP method obtained the largest weight on road technical by 3.36 on the A.H. Nasution road section and 3.04 on the Ngumban Surbakti road section. While the smallest weight on technical road equipment is 0.592 on the A.H. Nasution road section and the utilization of the road section is 0.3 on the Ngumban Surbakti road section. The assessment of respondents' data using the MAUT method obtained the largest weight on road complementary building structures of 1,265 on the A.H. Nasution road section and 1,140 on the Ngumban Surbakti road section. While the smallest weight on the utilization of road sections is 0.04 on the A.H. Nasution road section and 0.413 on the Ngumban Surbakti road section.

Recommendations for a Military Health System Auditory Blast Injury Prevention Standard.

Although existing auditory injury prevention standards benefit warfighters, the Department of Defense could do more to understand and address auditory injuries (e.g., hearing loss, tinnitus, and central processing deficits) among service members. The Blast Injury Prevention Standards Recommendation (BIPSR) Process is designed to address the needs of all the Military Services for biomedically valid Military Health System (MHS) Blast Injury Prevention Standards. Through the BIPSR Process, stakeholders provided their intended uses and requested functionalities for an MHS Blast Injury Prevention Standard. The BIPSR Process established a broad-based, non-advocacy panel of auditory injury Subject Matter Expert (SME) Panel with members drawn from industry, academia, and government. The SME Panel selected evaluation factors, weighted priorities, and then evaluated the resulting candidate MHS Auditory Blast Injury Prevention Standards against the evaluation criteria. The SME Panel members provided rationales for their decisions, documented discussions, and used iterative rounds of feedback to promote consensus building among members. The BIPSR Process used multi-attribute utility theory to combine members' evaluations and compare the candidate standards. The SME Panel identified and collated information about existing auditory injury datasets to identify gaps and promote data sharing and comprehensive evaluations of standards for preventing auditory blast injury. The panel evaluated the candidate standards and developed recommendations for an MHS Blast Injury Prevention Standard. The BIPSR Process illuminated important characteristics, capabilities, and limitations of candidate standards and existing datasets (e.g., limited human exposure data to evaluate the validity of injury prediction) for auditory blast injury prevention. The evaluation resulted in the recommendation to use the 8-hour Equivalent Level (LAeq8hr) as the interim MHS Auditory Blast Injury Prevention Standard while the community performs additional research to fill critical knowledge gaps.

Hybrid learning is a learning method that combines or combines online learning with face-to-face learning (PTM). so that in its implementation, there are times when students and teaching staff meet face to face in class. However, in its implementation there are several obstacles, one of which is the number of students attending class and decreasing interest in learning, resulting in a poor final semester assessment. In connection with the problems faced, this research will try to measure interest in the hybrid learning model that has been implemented at Mulia University using the Multi-Attribute Utility Theory method, where this method is a decision-making method used to evaluate alternatives by considering several attributes. relevant and selecting the alternative that best meets the needs and preferences of the decision maker.

Evaluating construction contractors in the pre-tendering stage through an integrated based model

There are different studies has introduced different methods and techniques to improve the performance and to reduce the delays in delivering construction projects. The selection of qualified contractors has a crucial importance which ensures delivering projects within the required time, quality, and cost. There are different national classification systems for contractors which are based on some similar and different criteria. This paper aims to develop a new model that helps in evaluating contractors in pre-tendering stage. The establishment of this model starts by listing 39 different criteria that are extracted from previous related studies. Then, 9 experts conducted a pairwise comparisons of those criteria using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) which resulted in 10 important criteria that should be used in evaluating construction contractors in pre-tendering stage. Those 10 criteria were then evaluated by 21 specialized mangers in different contract departments to get the weight of each criterion using Multi Attribute Utility Theory (MAUT) which converts those different criteria that have different attributes dimensions to one unified measurement scale identified as the multi-attribute “utility”. At the end, the selection criteria are evaluated using numerical and nominal scale to calculate the final score using the weights of those criteria which will allocate the contractors that can go to the tendering stage. As this model introduces a method for evaluating contractors before tendering stage, it also allows the clients or owners redefine the selection criteria and to decide the minimum result to allow contractors to move to the tendering stage. So, this model will help decision makers to ensure that the contractor’s characteristics and capabilities meet the requirements of the allocated project. Effective and objective qualification processes will serve both parties, owners, and contractors, in delivering construction projects. The criteria of this model are established based on the requirements of the construction industry in Saudi Arabia.

Komparasi Metode Maut dan Moora dalam Pemilihan Sunscreen untuk Kulit Menggunakan Pembobotan ROC

The skin is the outer layer of the human body that has various important functions. However, high sun exposure in Indonesia can cause damage to the skin due to ultraviolet rays. The use of sunscreen becomes important in preventing sunburn and skin cancer. Women with combination skin types often have difficulty choosing the right sunscreen. This study applies the Multi Attribute Utility Theory (MAUT) and Multi-Objective Optimization on The Basis of Ratio Analysis (MOORA) methods with the weighting of the Centroid Rank Order (ROC) method and the level of accuracy of MSE aims to produce decisions in choosing the right sunscreen for combination skin. At the methodology stage, data on criteria, sub-criteria, and alternatives are collected through observation and interviews. The criteria consist of 6 namely Benefit, Composition, Price, Vitamins, Side Effects, and Size. The ROC is used for weighting, while the MAUT and MOORA methods are used in the assessment and comparison of alternatives and MSE is used for the level of accuracy. The discoveries from this study hold the possibility to offer recommendations for choosing the best sunscreen for combination skin, namely A7 with the brand sunscreen Somethinc Comfort Correct for the MAUT method is 0.7134 and the MOORA method is 0.102. The results of the MSE calculation obtained a deviation value, namely the MOORA method with a value of 215.0091 better than the MAUT method of 207.4922. So that the MOORA method is the best method in choosing sunscreen for combination skin and aims to help people who are still having difficulty choosing the right sunscreen, so as to avoid mistakes in choosing inappropriate sunscreens that can have a negative impact on the skin

Corona Virus disiase 2019 (covid 19) is an infectious disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 a type of Corona virus. This virus is transmitted through physical contact and causes symptoms of respiratory problems, colds, fever, dry cough, and attacks the human physical immunity. covid 19 has disrupted the activities of daily human life, including in the field of education. To prevent the spread of covid 19 the government proposes that during the covid 19 pandemic the teaching and learning process takes place online or online. In the online learning process so that students are more active, creative and enthusiastic, a system is needed decision support that can determine and choose the application of learning media during the covid 19 pandemic, a decision support system that can solve the problem using the MAUT (Multi Attribute Utility Theory) method and produce an appropriate decision based on the results of the data obtained such as alternatives and the criteria so as to produce a decision, namely the application of the best learning media in the era of covid 19, namely the Sony Vegas Pro application with a score of 0.9025.
